"A very large vault tomb on Maroota farm holds all that is mortal of the body, which was recovered from the water after his drowning, which was a lamentable happening. I have chronicled that event elsewhere. In brief it is "That on the 29th May, 1805, William Stubbs (I.) was drowned through the capsizing of the boat by which he was returning to his own farm, and Mr. William Stubbs became entangled in the reeds and was unable to free himself and probably died from shock as from the immersion in the river."
