Marion Purnell on her web site, with the support of Lyndy Cracknell note that "Hannah with two daughters and two sons (Richard, Mary, Louisa and William Chowne) came to the colony as a free settler on the ship 'Broxbornbury' in July 1814. Hannah's husband Richard arrived as a convict."

The 1822 General Muster, which includes the names Richard, Hannah, Richard 14, Louisa 12 and William 10 ALL "coming free" on the "Broxbornebury", with Rebecca 7 and Hannah 5 being born in the Colony. Is the note against this Richard that he "came free" incorrect? Highly likely.

The "Broxbornebury" arrived in Sydney on 28 July 1814, but, as yet, I have been unable to obtain a passenger list.

I found your website and want to congratulate you on a big effort! You have quite a few of my family member listed, including William Chowne Robinson and Elizabeth Trotter who are my great grandmother's grandparents. I can send you more details (by the way, they had no son Alexander, sorry!) if you would like to add to your database. They had six children: You have the eldest two correct, after that they had William Chowne II in 1843, Thomas in 1845, James in around 1847(died soon after birth) and Mary in 1848. Mary survived her mother who died in 1848, but died of convulsions sometime around 1853. She was adopted by John and Susannah Trotter who couldn't have children of their own. William remarried in 1852 to Margaret Mary Towers and had fifteen more children!

"He was ill for two months with ascites, an abnormal accumulation of fluids in the abdomen. This can occur as a result of trauma, perforated ulcer, appendicitis or inflammation of the colon, but 80% of acute cases are as a result of cirrhosis of the liver. The information was his son in law Richard Bull of Ropes Creek. He had lived in the colony for 54 years. His parent's details were not recorded.
