The known line from Oliver Aggett is as follows:

Oliver Lidger Aggett married Jane Clark Brimblecombe in Throwleigh 26-06-1709. (Jane was born in 1684 - but we can't find Oliver's baptism, place of birth or parents.)

Their son Thomas Lidger Aggett (b1713) married Ann Frost (1717-1790) 26-11-1735 in Gidleigh. Thomas and Ann Aggett's son John baptised Throwleigh 13-2-1736, died Drewsteignton 26-11-1821 - married Mary Risdon (b1740 Gidleigh d 3-11-1816 Throwleigh) in Sth Tawton May 1761.

John and Mary had Richard baptised Sth Tawton 5-4-1775 - the rest you know.

I'm descended from the second son of Oliver and Jane, John Lidger who married Susanna Mallard. I've got nothing on her, except she was 'of Sth Tawton' and don't appear to have any death of him either. I don't know what occupation these early Aggetts had - John and Susanna's grandson John born 1762 was a Thatcher, as was his son John born 1802 (he's my gg-grandfather).

My line are not particularly interested in their early ancestors and the name itself is down the track a bit in my line. However, I often look to see if there is anyone out there with an Aggett connection.

I was just browsing Aggett and found your Fewins connection. I'm descended from one lot of Aggett - not directly from your line - but we can both go back to an Oliver Aggett and Jane Brimblecombe who married in Gidleigh 1709. We descend from 2 of their sons.

Lydia Aggett married James Fewins in Exeter in the December quarter of 1840. Lydia was the daughter of Richard Aggett (bp Sth Tawton 5-4-1775, son of John Aggett and Mary Risdon;) and Ann Brimblecombe.

Richard and Ann were married in Chagford 10-10-1802, Witnesses James Jeffry and Elizabeth Brimblecombe.

The Aggett name varies a lot with different spelling and not only that, Oliver had an alias! Sometimes he's recorded as Oliver Agate als Lidger or Lidger als Agate. Later it is Ledger als Aggett etc. Finally some stayed Ledger and some Aggett or Aggott.
